The biased media writing

An article titled "Why the road to finish UP’s Saryu canal project went via jail, Dubai & a messy marriage" details the feat of UP (India) Government post 2017.

The article covers the difficulties faced by the bureaucrats in executing a massive project like Saryu Canal Irrigation Project.

The article is worth reading for the sheer effort went in, to complete a project which was decades old. The challenges are exciting to read but need huge efforts to convince citizens to give up land for the project.

Now the tragedy:

Despite the wonderful coverage, the writer / newspaper nowhere mentions credit is to the CM Yogi of Uttar Pradesh. The writer / online newspaper is under the impression that the project was restarted in the year 2017 by the bureaucrats / local bodies.

Can anyone guess that a project like this can be completed without intervention from Chief Minister office?

Is it possible to move land registry office to a jail for a day by the bureaucrats?

The problem with the project and the writer / online newspaper was:

1. The ruling Government since 2017 was BJP (India) under a saffron wearing Chief Minister

2. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister N. Modi (BJP) .

The only reference of BJP and the CM is mentioned as:

In 2017, after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the UP assembly elections and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government took charge, it was decided to take up the project again on priority and finish it. The irrigation department went over each of the 1,300 complex land acquisition cases that had held up the work so far.

It is unfortunate that this online newspaper was created by Shekhar Gupta ex Indian Express Editor and at one time he used to be my favorite writer.
