Interesting Interpretations

Two narrations will be shared below regarding how Perceptional Blindness caused to perceive events differently:
·         Ramayana
·         Niyoga

Ramayana
Understanding of Ramayana in very short:
Lord Rama was exiled. Devi Sita and brother Lakshman followed. Devi Sita was kidnapped by King Ravana. Lord Rama invaded King Ravana’s Lanka with the help of vanars’ (monkey) and killed King Ravana. Later Lord Rama, Devi Sita and Lakshman returned back to Ayodhya.
I underwent a perceptional shift when my wife narrated below stories pertaining to Devi Sita (Ramayana):
·         Devi Sita was daughter of King Ravana and Queen Mandodari
·         Hanuman on request from Lord Rama to handover Ring to Devi Sita
Hanuman was in despair (since he had never seen Devi Sita) after Lord Rama gave Ring as Identification Mark. On enquiry by Mother Anjani and later knowledge of his reason for despair, Mother Anjani proposed, see Queen Mandodari (as Devi Sita had her features). Hanuman got surprised and Mother Anjani said truth will be revealed later.
One of the reasons of Hanuman setting Lanka on fire was to see Queen Mandodari. Subsequently, sight of Queen, provided Hanuman the features of Devi Sita.
One more perceptional change happened when in a YouTube (link provided below) it stated that King Ravana kidnapped Devi Sita, to avoid his daughter undergo 14 years of Vanavaas (Exile).
Truth is hidden under layers of perceptional beliefs of men over many centuries. Today we dabble with interpretations.
Niyoga
Before moving further, I urge readers to understand below listed beautiful statement which appeared as a request (source link provided below):
“In modern times surrogate motherhood, abortion and test tube babies are acceptable. Likewise, at different times in history, different customs prevailed. For example, there are some stories in the Old Testament where daughters approach fathers for sons. It is not correct for us to judge Kruta Yuga Dharma by Kaliyuga (Modern) Values. Similarly, ideas of right and wrong vary with geography also. It is not right for people of one area to judge people of another area by a different set of values. Problems do arise when people living on one area follow the dharma or value system of a distant place (due to conversions etc). Then people of the same area and same time have conflicting value systems. Every mature effort must be made to respectfully understand. Value systems get refined and altered over time.”
I will not discuss the concept as it can be read on websites. The concept was known few years back. Niyoga instilled the thought that idea was modern and a parallel (i.e. listed conditions) of it I have yet to read anywhere else.
Hence, modernism is not what is happening / happened lately around present moment but, as stated by T Adorno “Modernity is a qualitative, not a chronological, category”. The novelty of idea separates modernism to ancient.
Niyoga as concept can instill perceptional bias and chances of it being misunderstood are very high. Men have to understand that coming together is an alliance for growth and not for exploitation.
The concept was also touched in Marathi movie Anahat (Year 2003 – Directed by Amol Palekar).
