If you want to know the position prevailing during the partition and from Jinnah point of view, please watch this interview.
Must watch till the end as it has tons of information which will be fresh to many.
The only unfortunate part is the section covering Jaswant Singh and LK Advani, their belief in Jinnah as secularist is debunked. How they were also under wrong impression.
My friend introduced me to a video on Narmada Parikrama by Mrs. and Mr. Chitale of Pune.
For those who are unaware about Narmada Parikrama, the distance covered during this parikrama is around 3,000 kms by walk around the banks of river Narmada.
The special features of the video talk by Mrs. Chitale:
1. Miracles happening during the journey are very well explained
2. In between importance of life and eco system very well explained
3. Talk is a solo for entire series i.e. 18 parts barring few minutes by Mr. Chitale
4. Mrs. Chitale keeps you glued to the talk and help us undertake journey with her
5. The talk is very inspiring, emotionally moving and motivating.
The only challenge, talk is in Marathi and those who do not know it are hugely missing it.
This talk is in the same league as two books written on spiritual journey:
a. Autobiography of a yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda
b. The Journey within by Radhanath Swami
Any one who knows Marathi must listen to this talk of Mrs. Chitale.
Remining Part 2 to 18 is available in the channel link provided above.
Recommendation:
Will request Amazon India, Netflix, Zee or Sony to take over rights of the series.
Work on it for presentation purpose, and release (with other regional languages of India and in English voice with subtitles) for the benefit of people spread across India and to English speaking world.
How the military establishments benefits by war, a classic example:
I don't know what to say, when he said we will use 2% of GDP for armament projects etc. , other members in the house were clapping. For whom they were clapping, for the defense companies or they were clapping like small child without knowing where they are venturing into.
The person in the video is the German Chancellor Mr. Olaf Scholz.
Remember:
“The intimate relationship between the military-industrial-complex and the refugee-industrial complex is that they serve each other by first destroying nations and controlling their resources; and second by bringing to the West cheap laborers who do both menial and highly skilled work. This means that the system benefits from the victims twice: once by destroying their nations and stealing their resources, and twice by capitalizing on their labor and skills. More ironically, refugees often make ideal consumers for goods produced and promoted by the same corporations and warmongers who destroyed their countries, lives, histories, and memories forever.”
An article titled "Why the road to finish UP’s Saryu canal project went via jail, Dubai & a messy marriage" details the feat of UP (India) Government post 2017.
The article covers the difficulties faced by the bureaucrats in executing a massive project like Saryu Canal Irrigation Project.
The article is worth reading for the sheer effort went in, to complete a project which was decades old. The challenges are exciting to read but need huge efforts to convince citizens to give up land for the project.
Now the tragedy:
Despite the wonderful coverage, the writer / newspaper nowhere mentions credit is to the CM Yogi of Uttar Pradesh. The writer / online newspaper is under the impression that the project was restarted in the year 2017 by the bureaucrats / local bodies.
Can anyone guess that a project like this can be completed without intervention from Chief Minister office?
Is it possible to move land registry office to a jail for a day by the bureaucrats?
The problem with the project and the writer / online newspaper was:
1. The ruling Government since 2017 was BJP (India) under a saffron wearing Chief Minister
2. The project was inaugurated by Prime Minister N. Modi (BJP) .
The only reference of BJP and the CM is mentioned as:
In 2017, after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the UP assembly elections and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government took charge, it was decided to take up the project again on priority and finish it. The irrigation department went over each of the 1,300 complex land acquisition cases that had held up the work so far.
It is unfortunate that this online newspaper was created by Shekhar Gupta ex Indian Express Editor and at one time he used to be my favorite writer.
Twitter handle @rvaidya2000 posted a image of a book which stated how the Premier of a Country was involved in drug trade. I will reproduce the text not from the book from the source where it was mentioned.
One of the culprits, Hamid Hussain was not only the vice president of Government owned Habib Bank, but was as close as a son to the wife of General Zia ul Haq. He handled Zia's account and used banking channels to launder drug proceeds. The most startling revelation that confirmed Zia's drug connection was the case of one of his ADCs, whose name was not disclosed. The ADC concealed heroin in 100 precious lamps to be gifted by General Zia to the delegates at a special session of the UN General Assembly. General Zia suddenly changed his programme to travel via Iran and Iraq. In the process of shifting his baggage one of the lamps broke spreading heroin at New York Airport. Apparently the customs official checked all the lamps which were filled with heroin and seized them.
So the hunt was to know source of the statement stated in the book, as the book name was not clear in the tweet.
Google search helped me to find the source:
1. Narco-Terrorism and India's Security By Kshitij Prabha, Associated Fellow, IDSA
2. Contemporary Pakistan: Political Processes, Conflicts and Crises by Veena Kukreja and Mahendra Prasad Singh
