Water Management - Dr Anupam Mishra

Water conservation has been my priority.

An accidental search for an interview whose small clip appeared in twitter landed me to a YouTube channel. This channel is the last of all places to unearth a Gold Mine on water management.

Yes the YouTube Channel is Ministry of Railways.

Railway Ministry (India) carried out a series of interview surprisingly by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. This was during the period 2016.

One of the interview had Dr. Anupam Mishra as a guest. We will have to know who was Dr. Anupam Mishra:

Source: Wikepedia

Anupam Mishra (1948 – 19 December 2016) was an Indian Gandhian, author, journalist, environmentalist, TED speaker, and water conservationist who worked on promoting water conservation, water management and traditional rainwater harvesting techniques. He had been awarded the 1996 Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar (IGPP) award instituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. He travelled to villages across several Indian states, especially Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, describing the value of time-tested systems of water harvesting. He advocated conservation of traditional water structures in India as well as abroad. He wrote books like Aaj Bhi Khare Hain Talaab (Ponds Are Still Relevant, 1993) and Rajasthan Ki Rajat Boondein (Radiant Raindrops of Rajasthan, 1995), landmark works in the field of water conservation.

I thank Minister Suresh Prabhu and Indian Railway for the interview, because after few months of this interview Dr Mishra passed away on December 2016.

The best part number of views (YouTube Channel Ministry of Railway) on the Part I Interview was 663 and Part II was 140 as on 15 January 2021 at 01:15 . The same video was also uploaded in a channel by Ameya Prabhu (son of Suresh Prabhu) in which part I and part II had 6300 views and 3300 views approx. as on 15 January 2021..

Unfortunately, the coverage for interview is pathetically low by any standards, even though it is one of the top class interview appearing in YouTube on water management.

If any blog visitor happens to visit this post , I personally urge to watch this interview. It is a Gold mine or Treasure house of knowledge regarding Ancient India / Rural India and Water Conservation and Water Management.

Part I

Part II

Thank you Ministry of Indian Railway for this interview.

Definitely an interview my kid should watch.
