Sparsely, you hear statements
where an individual chiefly a corporate chieftain states “Sometimes you can live an
individual life which is also a kind of institution”. This speech was
made by Vallabh Bhansali of ENAM Group.
Thanks to the power of institutions
and its influence in daily life, we exist in a period where we create
institutions not to leave behind legacy but to enrich the creator for generation
of wealth / power. The sheer power of these institutions are seen at
educational institutions in India.
These institutes never inculcate
the power of individual in students. The curriculum no way edifies the role of
individuals. Conversely it emphasizes the importance of institutions. The
product is distinctly noticeable in the beeline during campus interviews or the
sole purpose of students is to apply to corporations / institutions for a
living.
No institutes proudly proclaim that
its student has opted for living as an individual life.
Men have forgotten the art of
living as an individual since to sustain as an individual and to survive next
to institutions is a toughest challenge a person can expect.
It is notable that Bhansali
states “You do see people who have lived fabulous lives as individuals, so I
don’t make too much of an organisational institution only.”
May be, interviewer / people
listening to above statement should ask names of such individuals.
Its time
I believe to stop looking at institutions alone but give individuals their due
recognition.
